Florida drivers and motorcyclists have to share the road for the safety of everyone. While the majority of drivers adhere to the law and maintain proper safety procedures, there are still people who are reckless, unaware or simply fail to yield and follow traffic laws when it comes to motorcyclists. This can result in devastating injuries and fatalities for motorcyclists. Those who have lost a loved one in a fatal motorcycle crash need to know what their legal options are after the incident has occurred.
An accident involving two cars and a motorcycle at approximately 2:00 p.m. killed one woman and injured two others. According to law enforcement, a 30-year-old man driving a 2004 Lexus was turning left when he ran into the path of a 2011 Toyota Corolla being driven by a 50-year-old man. The Lexus was hit on its passenger side. After the crash, the vehicles spun. The motorcycle had been behind the Toyota and crashed into it. The man who was operating the motorcycle, a 47-year-old man, suffered incapacitating injuries. His 40-year-old female passenger was killed. The driver of the Lexus was not hurt. The driver of the Toyota had minor injuries. The motorcycle riders were not wearing helmets.
With a motorcycle collision, there are numerous issues that must be considered by the injured person and the family of someone who was killed. Since those riding a motorcycle are naturally vulnerable, any crash can lead to long-term issues, lost wages and the need to try and make ends meet without a contributing loved one. There can be massive medical costs and the need for rehabilitation.
If the accident occurs as a result of a vehicle turning into oncoming traffic as this one did, it is important to have a full investigation to prove what happened with the interests of the motorcycle accident victim in mind. Since one motorcyclist suffered severe injuries and his passenger was killed, it’s even more important to determine the facts in the case in order to pursue a legal filing.
