Car occupants are the more vulnerable in the event of a truck-car accident, and that is why they often suffer critical injuries. Yet such accidents are often preventable if only truck drivers exercise caution while at the wheel. In a rear-end collision near Punta Gorda, Florida one driver was seriously injured and is listed in critical condition. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 36-year-old man was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Bermont Road when he stopped for traffic at the intersection. The 27-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer was unable to stop and rear-ended the pickup truck.
The pickup driver sustained injuries in the collision and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. The tractor-trailer driver did not suffer any injuries. The truck-car collision is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
Regardless of what vehicle they are driving, drivers are responsible for the safety of other people on the road. Failing to operate a vehicle safely endangers the lives of others in potential car accidents.
