Taxis, buses and limos are held to a high standard

Residents of Tampa put a lot of trust in the drivers of limos, buses, taxis and other forms of commercial mass transit, This even includes the relatively new ride-share companies that are now common in Florida, like Uber and Lyft.

Sadly, it sometimes turns out that this trust is misplaced, and the driver of one of these vehicles gets involved in a serious accident. A passenger can get severely and permanently injured as a result of these types of commercial vehicle accidents.

The law actually holds the operators of taxis, busses, and other public transportation to a higher standard since they are, after all, making money in exchange for the general public putting their trust in their ability to get them from point A to point B safely. This higher standard means that operators have to go beyond just being careful and following basic safety rules; they also must comply with a whole gamete of safety regulations and other rules.

As part of this higher standard, these operators have some responsibility to their passengers in the event of an accident, meaning that they will often need to provide compensation to them for their injuries. This compensation can include things like medical bills, lost wages and the like. For this very purposes, bus drivers and taxi operators have to carry higher limits of insurance than the ordinary Florida citizen.

As this blog has mentioned before, commercial vehicle accidents can be difficult to navigate and investigate. This is why so many victims of these types of accidents have trusted the knowledge and experience of our law office to handle their claims on their behalf following a serious commercial vehicle accident.
