Medical marijuana is now legal in Florida. This is good news for people who will benefit from cannabis for the treatment of certain medical conditions, but it may increase the chance that a person will attempt to operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana.
An Eckerd College freshman was killed in a car accident late last week. The 18-year-old was driving with another teenager in Osceola County when a pickup truck driver made a left turn in front of her Hyundai sedan. The collision caused the Hyundai to erupt into flames and both the driver and her passenger died.
When drivers are granted a drivers license, they are expected to operate their vehicles responsibly and follow the rules of traffic. However, one man who was arrested in Georgia recently was involved in at least 15 hit-and-run accidents before police finally tracked him down. The man reportedly hit five vehicles when he was driving in DeKalb County in Georgia and hit at least 10 more vehicles in Gwinnett County in Georgia.
