Many residents in Florida enjoy the luxury of riding motorcycles year round. While these vehicles are an effective way to get around, motorcycles carry with them a multitude of risks. Even when a motorcyclist is driving safely, this does not protect them from a negligent driver that collides with them. However, motorcycle accident victims have legal protections available to them.

Just north of the Tampa area, a recent motorcycle accident left a motorcycle rider in critical condition. The motorcycle accident occurred when a passenger vehicle made a left-hand turn in front of the oncoming motorcycle. The initial investigation revealed that speed was not a factor in the motorcycle accident. Because of the serious nature of the motorcycle crash and its severity, a Traffic Homicide Investigation is being conducted following the accident. The victim was a college student.

Motorcycle accident victims can suffer serious and debilitating injuries that can last a lifetime. Victims and their families may face unexpected medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering damages as a result of the harm suffered in a motorcycle accident. Victims can suffer a range of serious and catastrophic injuries as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Unfortunately, in two-thirds of motorcycle accidents, the driver of a passenger vehicle failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist and caused the accident. When a negligent driver, such as by a failure to yield or some other type of careless behavior, has caused a motorcycle accident, they may be liable to compensate the victim for their damages.

For motorcycle accident victims and their families, it is important to be familiar with the legal options available to them if an inattentive or negligent driver has harmed them in a motorcycle accident. Understanding the options available to them can help victims and their families with the damages they have suffered so they can focus on the recovery process.
